Margate unveil signing of midfielder Luke I'Anson

Friday 26th July 2013
MARGATE have unveiled the signing of experienced midfielder Luke I’Anson.

I’Anson, 24, joins the club having left Ryman League Division One South side Merstham at the end of last season due to work commitments and also had a spell at Billericay Town, who were relegated back into the Ryman Premier League at the end of last season.

Having arrived in England from Spain, I'Anson played under manager Simon Osborn at Bromley in the 2009/10 season, and went on to play for Welling and Kingstonian before signing for Dover Athletic in August 2010 after a successful trial period.

During his time at the Crabble he scored one of the two goals that famously knocked Gillingham out of the FA Cup back in November 2010.

Having impressed so far in pre-season he agreed to sign after the 1-0 win over Chatham Town on Tuesday night.

“I’m really pleased to be signing there is a great atmosphere here and a decent bunch of players,” I’Anson told www.margate-fc.com.

“I have played for Simon before and he brings such an organised and professional approach to the game which I really enjoy.

“I am very much looking forward to the season.”

Margate, who are unbeaten in five matches, continue their pre-season campaign with a visit from Thanet rivals Ramsgate in a two-legged affair tonight.  The second leg will take place at Southwood Stadium next Friday.

The encounters are expected to be very competitive affairs with the Island’s bragging rights at stake.

Margate joint-manager Craig Holloway welcomes back to his squad front man Charles Ademeno but will be without his influential skipper John Beales and big striker Phil Walsh, who are both unavailable.

Also on show at Hartsdown Park tonight (7:45pm kick-off) should be a new trialist in the shape of former Millwall and Cyprus youth player Jack Sammoutis.
