Marathon man Ian Jenkins celebrates twenty years at Cray Wanderers

Monday 18th February 2013
CRAY WANDERERS manager Ian Jenkins celebrates TWENTY years with the club.

Jenkins was signed as a player by boss Eddy Davies and became player-manager in 1999.

His total involvement with the Wands as player and manager is approaching 950 games.  He has scored 78 goals for the club.

As manager, he has taken the club from bottom of the Kent League to the Ryman Premier League.

Jenkins is also running the London Marathon again this year and explained why he is pounding the streets of London on 21 April.

He said:  “I’m running the London Marathon again this year hoping to beat my time, but most importantly hoping to beat the money you helped me raise (over £3,000) for the charity Breast Cancer Campaign.

”You might already know that my wife Wendy, her sister and mother all suffered from breast cancer and thankfully all survived after surgery and treatment.

”All other women in our family will have to be checked regularly including my daughter Dulcie so all money raised helps towards this horrible disease.

”Thank you for all your support over the last two years.”
