Clint Gooding has a very tough job at Blair but they’ll be right up for it and we need to make sure that we can match that hunger and do what we’re good at to win the game, says Lordswood boss Richard Styles

LORDSWOOD boss Richard Styles says his side must match Hollands & Blair’s desire levels in Saturday’s Medway derby at Darland Avenue.

Lordswood were held to a 1-1 draw by Erith Town in their last game last Saturday, Jack Mahon scoring his fourteenth goal of the season.

Styles said: “There was a vast improvement in our performance and should’ve been out of sight by half-time!

“Jack Mahon scored our goal but we missed a host of opportunities that led to going against us as we conceded early in the second half.

“Although it was an improvement and a better performance it is still two points dropped because we deserved to win the game.”

Lordswood are in ninth-place in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table with 29 points in the bag from their 19 league games.

On Saturday, they make the short trip to Hollands & Blair, a side that are rooted to the foot of the table, having lost 16 of their 18 league games and without a win in the league.

Clint Gooding took over from Bryan Greenfield and has suffered league defeats to Cray Valley (1-5), Sevenoaks Town (1-3) and Rochester United (0-1).

“We go into Saturday knowing what we need to do,” insists Styles.

“Clint Gooding has a very tough job at Blair but they’ll be right up for it and we need to make sure that we can match that hunger and do what we’re good at to win the game.

“It’s a local derby so there’s always a little bit more at stake, it’ll be a very good game to finish the year on.”

Hollands & Blair are seven points adrift of Rochester United, while the third-from-bottom side, Tunbridge Wells, have collected 16 points from their 18 league games.
