I am delighted to sign for Lordswood FC, thank you to Darren Anslow and Owen Price for bringing me on board, says former Welling Town captain Marlon Patterson
MARLON PATTERSON has announced his departure from Welling Town to sign for their new Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division rivals Lordswood.
“I would like to thank Kevin Oakes, the chairman of Welling Town and the then management for their belief in me to help them get the title over the line,” Patterson said in a statement, which he posted on his Twitter account.
“The hard work had started when the new management team had taken over.
“I have been involved in many successful teams and talented changing rooms but Louis Dean, Ryan Pacey, Marc Powelland Rob Dillon have a great work ethic and great respect for each other’s jobs, which made things that much easier as players to understand and focus on our jobs.
“We had many highs and maybe just one low, that says it all. I wish them all the best and no doubt they will all be back in a job soon.
“It was great to captain the side to be victorious and win the Southern Counties East Football League First Division. We had many good players who I believe will kick on and some will have careers – good luck to them all and wish Welling Town the best of luck.”
Darren Anslow has enticed versaile defender Patterson to Lordswood, who finished intenth-place in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division under Richard Styles last season.
“I am delighted to sign for Lordswood FC, thank you to Darren Anslow and Owen Price for bringing me on board. I can’t wait to get started with the boys,” added Patterson.
Anslow, who took over from Styles, who took charge of league rivals Tunbridge Wells in June, has also confirmed the arrivals of Lithuanian international striker Motiejus Burba.
