Lordswood part company with Nicky Southall after 45 games in charge
LORDSWOOD chairman Ray Broad has parted company with manager Nicky Southall after 45 games in charge of the club.
Lordswood extended their winless run to six games after losing 2-1 at Stansfeld at the weekend.
The club have dropped into the bottom four (seventeenth-place) in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table, having picked up four wins, one draw and eight defeats in the ninth-tier division.
Hollands & Blair (13 points from 15 games), Lydd Town (12 points from 13 games) and Kennington (12 points from 16 games) are beneath them in the table.
“Lordswood have agreed to part company with Nicky Southall by mutual consent,” said Mr Broad in a statement.
“We would like to thank Nicky for his hard work over the last 10 months and wish him all the best for the future.
“First team coach Sam Wilson will be overseeing the transition period for the team while further discussions are ongoing.”
Southall, 52, was in charge for 45 games in all competitions, winning 17, drawing seven and losing 21, with a win ratio of 46 per cent.
Southall has played at every level of football from the top tier (Bolton Wanderers) down to the seventh-tier.
Lordswood enjoyed their best ever FA Cup campaign earlier in the season, reaching the Second Qualifying Round, where they lost 1-0 at home to Isthmian League South East Division side Sittingbourne.
Lordswood attracted a record crowd of 745 for the game, which was televised on
the BBC Iplayer and website and Lordswood were in seventh-place in the table at the time of the game on 14 September.
The Lords travel to Bearsted in the Challenge Cup Second Round on Tuesday 12 November.
