Survival? It's in our hands, says Lordswood assistant manager Dan Morrin

Thursday 01st December 2016

LORDSWOOD assistant manager Dan Morrin says survival is in their own hands.

Lordswood arrived at Rusthall on the back of five straight defeats but Sam Hallett’s 38th minute finish sent the Southern Counites East Football League First Division leaders Rusthall crashing out of the Kent Reliance Senior Trophy last weekend.

Attention now turns to Saturday’s home game against Tunbridge Wells at North Dane Way.

Lordswood lie fourth-from-bottom in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table, having bagged four wins, one draw and 13 defeats in their disappointing league campaign.

Jason Bourne’s Tunbridge Wells, meanwhile, sit three places higher and arrive with a league playing record of four wins, three draws and six defeats.

Fisher are rooted to the foot of the table with 7 points from 18 games, while their rivals Beckenham Town join them in the relegation zone with 12 points from 17 games. Nine other clubs are looking over their shoulder, having collected between 12 and 17 points.

“Tunbridge Wells will be tough,” said Morrin.

“They’re in and around us.  You’ve always got to get results against teams in and around you.  They’re a strong team, we know what to expect. We know what they’re going to do to us.  We’ll know them and they know us.

“I think it will be another tough game so hopefully this (win at Rusthall) has changed our season slightly.  I’m not going to say we’re going to become world-beaters at all.

“Hopefully the boys have seen digging in and having a little battle is worth it and if we can get a result then hopefully the result will come.

“Over the next six or seven weeks we’ve got all of those teams. It’s in our hands. We’ve got Tunbridge Wells twice, we’ve got Bearsted to play, Deal in early January. We’ve got Erith & Belvedere. We’ve all got the teams in and around us that we’ve still got to play.

“It’s in our hands and I’m confident the boys that we’ve got and the quality that we’ve got.”
