Long-serving Ford leaves Vickers - EXCLUSIVE

Tuesday 03rd April 2007
Dean Frost has been put into temporary charge of VCD Athletic for their last eight Kent League games, following the shock departure of long-serving boss Martin Ford at the weekend, writes Stephen McCartney.

Ford, whose managed the Crayford based club for the last fourteen years, cited that he’s left the club due to “personal reasons”.

Ford wants the dust to settle before making a further statement, but told www.kentishfootball.co.uk EXCLUSIVELY today that his decision wasn’t based on football, especially with the club sitting in fourth place in the table.

He said: “I need to gather my thoughts on what’s gone on.  I left for personal reasons -  it’s not a football issue.

“I left for personal reasons.  That’s all I want to say at this stage – I wish the club all the best.”

Ford also revealed that he’s “had a couple of offers” for next season.

His assistant, Frost, a former defender with Dartford and Bromley, and a London Black Cab driver, has been put in “temporary charge”, starting with tonight’s trip to Sevenoaks Town.

www.kentishfootball.co.uk will be providing LIVE coverage of this game tonight - with reaction on Ford's departure.
