I’m expecting nothing less than a strong showing in September and October from Lewisham Borough, says manager Justin Fevrier

LEWISHAM BOROUGH manager Justin Fevrier says the club will rise up the league table in the next couple of months when key players return from injury.

The Ladywell Arena based outfit sit in the bottom five of the Southern Counties East Football League First Division table with three points from their opening five league outings.

“Last month will be looked back on by us as a month of missed opportunities,” said Fevrier.

“Three points from a possible 15, due to conceding in the last minute twice, really shouldn’t be happening but we know that we can catch and challenge the front runners.

“It hasn’t been the ideal start for us, four goalkeepers in as many games is not normal and eight outfield injuries has certainly played a role in the slow start.

“When we look around the dressing room, it gives us the confidence of believing we’ll make up the ground.

“We’ve been pleasantly surprised with the level of football from the opposition so far and we will need to match them for 90 minutes to get results in the SCEFL.

“I’m expecting nothing less than a strong showing in September and October from Lewisham Borough.”

Lewisham Borough host Broadbridge Heath in The FA Vase First Qualifying Round tomorrow.

“We’ve done some work on them this week. They’re a very organised team with good attacking players who score a lot of goals,” Fevrier said on the seventh-placed Southern Combination Premier Division side.

“I expect a good game of football but will be looking for a positive result on the day, even as underdogs.

“The FA Cup and Vase are competitions I played in as a player and there’s always a huge excitement around the club on match day and that will be no different for Lewisham.

“The financial rewards for winning ties are huge for clubs like ours and of course many others.  I would really like to see a southern team take the throne this year.”

Richard Blackwell (knee), Austin Gacheru (work commitments) Troy Ferguson (Achilles) and Dorian Smith (ribs) have been ruled-out of tomorrow’s home clash.

Fevrier said: “I’m hoping to have everyone back in the next couple of weeks and try to get a settled squad.

“We welcome Erivaldo Felix to the squad this week and he will feature tomorrow.

“I’m extremely appreciative of the football fans and fellow managers who get in touch to complement the team, me, staff and the club, it goes a long way, thank you.”
