Kinch sidelined for at least eight weeks - EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW

Monday 11th December 2006

Tonbridge Angels manager Tony Dolby has revealed that he will be without influential midfielder Scott Kinch for at least eight weeks after he suffered a hairline fracture to his ankle on Saturday, writes Stephen McCartney.

The fans favourite, a summer signing from Tooting & Mitcham United, picked up the injury during the second half of their 3-2 defeat to Heybridge Swifts.

That defeat, their second successive defeat at home, sees the west Kent club drop down to tenth place in the Ryman Premier League table.

But if Dolby’s men can inflict Billericay Town’s first home league defeat of the season on Tuesday night, then they will leapfrog over the Essex side on 30 points.

There will, however, be a pitch inspection at New Lodge at 12 noon, to see if the vital clash goes ahead.

Dolby, meanwhile, admitted EXCLUSIVELY to www.kentishfootball.co.uk that window cleaner Kinch will not be able to do much whilst out injured.

He revealed: “I don’t think he will be able to do a single thing for a minimum of four weeks and then he’s got to do some rehab.”

Their next opponents, Billericay Town are buzzing at present following their 3-0 home win over AFC Wimbledon at the weekend.

“They had a good result on Saturday,” said Dolby. “They are a strong side, a very experienced Ryman Premier side and on their day can beat anybody in the league.

“I like the lad Leon Hunter in the middle of the park. I was impressed with him every time a team of mine has played against him. He’s a strong player and they’ve got some good front lads.”

Dolby was, however, disappointed with his team’s performance as they fell to their fifth league defeat of the season against Essex opposition at the weekend.

“I was disappointed with our performance to be honest,” he said. “I know we haven’t played for two weeks but I was expecting more from the lads.

“I think once the Christmas period is out of the way I will judge our league position - but we have got games in hand.”

Dolby, 32, admitted his squad feels thin on quality when they suffer from injuries.

He added: “I think we’ve certainly have suffered a bit from injuries. It’s difficult to replace the quality we’ve got.”

Meanwhile, former Angel, midfielder Danny Lye made his Ashford Town debut on Saturday, coming off the substitutes bench in their 2-1 home defeat to promotion chasing Fleet Town.
