Kent League pair snap up Ryman League midfielders

Two Kent League club’s have signed midfielders from Ryman League Division One South clubs, with Met Police’s Rob Tarrant joining Thamesmead Town and Hythe Town snapping up Dale Skelton from Dover Athletic.

Tarrant, 23, teams up with Thamesmead Town manager Keith McMahon again after their spell together at VCD Athletic.

McMahon (pictured) told www.thamesmeadtownfc.co.uk: "It's another good signing for me. Rob is an excellent player that can play in a number of different positions.

“He has strengthened a lot since he was with me last and looks very comfortable at this level after his spell with Met Police in the Ryman League.

“Rob plays the game the way I believe it should be, he gets the ball down and plays to feet. He creates a lot of goals but also scores his fair share too and will be a great addition to the squad."

Meanwhile, Skelton, who has come through the youth system at Crabble, made a number of first-team appearances during the past few seasons.

But he has decided that his future lies elsewhere, with first-team chances likely to be limited for the popular local midfielder.

Dover Athletic chairman Jim Parmenter told www.doverathletic.com : “It has been decided by both parties that it would be better for his career to leave Dover Athletic.

“We agreed it mutually and we wish him every luck at Hythe. His chances of realistically holding down a place in the first-team were slim.

“The club are hoping to make a few minor adjustments to the squad, so this move was also in the best interests of the club too.”
