We’ve hit the standard that we as a management team set at the right time and it’s helped put us into a position where we can challenge for promotion, says Kennington boss Dan Scorer

KENNINGTON manager Dan Scorer says his side must not suffer from complacency when struggling Bridon Ropes visit Homelands Stadium tomorrow.

The Ashford based side are sitting in second-place in the Sea Pioneer Southern Counties East Football League First Division table with 33 points from their 17 league outings.

Kennington are two points adrift of leaders Rochester United and do have two games in hand on the Medway outfit.

“We’ve been in decent form recently, winning seven of the last eight and it’s nothing less than the players’ deserve,” said Scorer.

“Their attitude and application to everything we’re trying to do this season has been brilliant!

“We’ve hit the standard that we as a management team set at the right time and it’s helped put us into a position where we can challenge for promotion.”

Bridon Ropes – who are at home to Premier Division side Punjab United next Wednesday 8 January in the Challenge Cup Third Round – are second from bottom in the table with 10 wins from 16 games.

“I spoke to the players’ this week and urged them to maintain their performance levels and reminded them that now is not the time for complacency,” added Scorer.

“Bridon Ropes may be sat near the bottom of the table but we are well aware of the energy and pace they possess, so we’ll be fully prepared for that.

“I’m very grateful for the size of the squad I have at my disposal. We have a really special group of players that give up their evenings and weekends purely for the love of the game.

“We have a long way to go still and they will all play their part.”

Tom Scorer is Kennington’s leading goalscorer with 13 goals, while Nathan Simpson and Liam Donaldson have both noted 12 goals apiece for the Charlton-based side.
