I understand George Landais' reasons for wanting to go, says Herne Bay boss Simon Halsey

HERNE BAY have today revealed striker George Landais has left the club to sign for their Ryman League Division One South rivals Tooting & Mitcham United.

Manager Simon Halsey has agreed to let Landais leave Winch’s Field after the south-London club submitted an official seven-day approach for the former Aldershot Town player.

“George has not been able to get into the first team following our unbeaten (eight-match) run and is obviously looking for regular first team football,” Halsey told www.hernebayfc.net.

“George has done very well for us but I understand his reasons for wanting to go.

“I wish him every success at his new club.”

Herne Bay chairman, Trevor Kennett, added: “I just want to thank George on behalf of the club for his professional approach that he has taken while being with us and the efforts he has made. We wish him well in the future.”

Herne Bay, who are without a game at the weekend, lie in third-place in the Ryman League Division One South table, with 19 points from 11 games, just one point behind leaders Crawley Down Gatwick.

Tooting & Mitcham United, meanwhile, presently occupy the sole relegation place, with three wins and a draw from their opening eleven league outings.
