I'm absolutely gutted and shattered that it hasn't worked out, says Fabio Rossi

FABIO Rossi says he is feeling absolutely gutted and shattered after making the decision to step down as Holmesdale’s manager yesterday.

Rossi, 51, who lives in Bromley, handed in his resignation following his side’s 5-0 defeat away to Tunbridge Wells, a result that leaves the Bromley-based club rooted to the foot of the Kent Hurlimann Football League table, with only one league win in eleven outings.

“My decision to stand down was simple really, our results just haven’t been good enough,” admitted Rossi.

“We’ve played some decent enough football at times. Injuries and players leaving hasn’t helped the cause but you have to deal with it.

“I hope the new manager can move the club forward with some fresh ideas. It’s never going to be the easiest job in the Kent League but with enough effort and desire it can be done.

“I’m absolutely gutted and shattered that it hasn’t worked out.”

When asked about his future plans, Rossi replied, “The club have asked me to join the committee which I have accepted and I am also heavily involved at my local Sunday club, so I’ll still be around coaching and organising.

“I wish the new manager every success. It will be tough but it can be done.”

Holmesdale’s London Senior Cup tie away to Erith & Belvedere on Tuesday night has been postponed, owing to Erith & Belvedere’s home FA Carlsberg Vase replay against VCD Athletic.

The two sides played out a goal-less draw after 120 minutes of football at Oakwood – where both managers criticised the performance of referee Matthew Westlake.

Holmesdale, who have said that they will make a statement on their official website on Monday, face a bottom-of-the-table clash against tenants Greenwich Borough next Saturday.

Greenwich Borough have gone nine games without a win and have picked up just one win and two draws from their nine Kent League games this season.

They are one place and two points better off than landlords Holmesdale.
