I feel it's very important to gain momentum going into Cup Final, says Lydd Town boss Dave Smith

Thursday 21st March 2013
LYDD TOWN boss Dave Smith says he wants to go into their League Cup Final on Easter Monday in a positive frame of mind.

The Lydders make the short trip to Ashford to face title-chasing Hollands & Blair in the Kent Invicta League Challenge Trophy Final on 1 April, but Smith wants his side to pick up maximum points in their two away games at Sutton Athletic on Saturday and at Crockenhill on Good Friday.

Lydd Town are in tenth-place in the Kent Invicta League table, with six wins and five draws from their 20 games.

Sutton Athletic go into Saturday’s game in seventh-place in the table, with nine wins and five draws from their 22 games.

The former Bromley Green boss said: “We travel to Sutton looking to revenge our home 5-2 defeat back in January.

”We will have a strong squad at our disposal and we will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing defeat last week to Kennington in the Weald of Kent Cup, where we just never played anywhere near to our potential.

”We have two games before our League Cup Final so the focus is to go into the final against Hollands & Blair with two wins under our belt and although our squad will be very different for that game.

”I feel it is very important to gain momentum and go into what will be a tough game in the best possible frame of mind.”
