I am really excited about what the future holds for me at Herne Bay, says goalkeeper Jack Delo

GOALKEEPER Jack Delo says he jumped at the chance of returning to his home-town club Herne Bay after a successful time at Folkestone Invicta.

Herne Bay have appointed Sam Denly as their new manager and Delo became the club’s first summer signing.

“I am obviously delighted to have signed and be playing again for Herne Bay,” Delo told Herne Bay’s official website.

“It was definitely one of the hardest decisions I have had to make to leave Folkestone.

“Cugs (Neil Cugley) is a top, top manager and has worked miracles down at Folkestone.  Everyone at the club, supporters, coaching staff and players are all top drawer and I am proud to have been apart of a great club.

“I have had nothing but support and I would like to thank them all.”

Delo scooped the man-of-the-match award when playing for Charlton Athletic against Manchester United in the FA Youth Cup Semi-Final ten years’ ago.

He was player-of-the-year at Herne Bay in the 2007-2008 season.

He joined Folkestone Invicta, initially on loan from then Ryman Premier League side Ramsgate, over Christmas 2008.

He made over 150 appearances for Folkestone Invicta and was voted player’ player-of-the-year during the 2010-11 campaign.

Delo is delighted to be back at Winch’s Field.

“I couldn’t turn down the chance to join Sam,” he said.

“I have spoken to Sam and I am convinced that what he has planned and the direction he wants to take the team excites me.

“I am a Herne Bay lad and I would like to see the Bay progress and although Folkestone will always have a place in my heart it is time for a new challenge and I am really excited about what the future holds for me at Herne Bay Football Club.”
