Hythe Town boss Tim Dixon disappointed to lose Stuart Zanone after two games

Wednesday 09th September 2015

HYTHE TOWN boss Tim Dixon says he’s disappointed that striker Stuart Zanone has left the club after a couple of games  – to re-sign for Greenwich Borough.

Harlow-based Zanone, 30, banged in a club record 47 goals for Ashford United last season, which clinched the Golden Boot award in the Southern Counties East Football League.

Zanone left Ashford, despite signing a contract in May, before signing for Ryman League Division One South side Hythe Town where he played only two games for the club.

Dixon told www.hythetownfc.co.uk: “We are disappointed to announce that Stuart Zanone has decided to leave the club.

“Stuart has stated that he has found it hard to play at Ryman South level and with his work and girlfriend further north, has found it very hard to commit.

“He did say that he would be taking a break from football, but since then we understand that he has signed for Greenwich. We wish Stuart all the best for the future.”

The Cannons are suffering with a loss of form so far this season and find themselves in the bottom three, with three draws from their opening seven league outings.

Club secretary Martin Giles said: “This has been a strange time at the club with a number of arrivals and departures.

“Players will always come and go for both good and bad reasons and thankfully at Hythe Town this happens without seven or eight pages of anger being expressed on a forum.

“At the same time though, I realise that our regular supporters will at times want to know a little more information then they are getting from a brief club statement and I am more than happy to chat with any of them before or after matches at Reachfields, or even at away games.”

Meanwhile, the new 3G pitch at Ashford United’s Homelands Stadium is expected to be played on for the first time when Deal Town visit on Tuesday 15 September.

A club statement which was published on www.ashfordunitedfc.com said: “The new 3G pitch is set to be inspected on Friday of this week with the laboratory tests confirmed as passed for the grass surface.  Friday’s test is a physical test, testing the roll characteristics of the pitch and also the bounce of the ball.”
