We're on a very nice run at the moment, says Holmesdale boss Lee Roots

HOLMESDALE manager Lee Roots says he is delighted with his side’s run of four wins on the bounce.

After losing 3-2 at Snodland, the Bromley based side have completed the double over Phoenix Sports Reserves, beaten promotion chasing Fisher 1-0 and thrashed Crockenhill 12-1.

As a result The Dalers have climbed into the top seven in the Southern Counties East Football League First Division table with 40 points from 24 games.

“I was quite happy with Tuesday night’s 3-0 win over Phoenix Sports Reserves.  Taking into account it was our first game for two weeks due to having no game and the game being postponed the week after,” said Roots, the former Chipstead (Kent) manager.

“It was a freezing cold Tuesday evening and the lads came through the game very comfortably in the end, without really ever getting into fourth or fifth gear.”

Andy Constable is the club’s leading goalscorer with 17 goals, having scored a brace in midweek.

Holmesdale travel to 12-placed Sporting Club Thamesmead tomorrow, where Josh Patrick has bagged 31 goals for the Bayliss Avenue outfit.

Roots said: “We know about them and how they like to set-up so I’m sure it will be yet again another tough league game.

“We’re on a very nice run at the moment, the lads are working really hard and like we do for every game, we’ve done our homework on the opposition and we will go into the game on Saturday prepared and ready.”

Meanwhile, now retired former Crystal Palace, Bromley, Gillingham and Cray Wanderers midfielder, Simon Osborn, 46, trained with the club last Saturday "in a bid to keep fit."
