We've had a great start, which is pleasing, says Hollands & Blair boss Paul Piggott

HOLLANDS & BLAIR manager Paul Piggott says he is relishing tomorrow’s trip to Park View Road to tackle Erith & Belvedere.

The Gillingham-based outfit sit proudly at the top of the Southern Counties East Football League table in their debut season, having collected five wins, two draws and one defeat so far.

Erith & Belvedere sit in seventh-place in the table on 12 points from 8 games and Piggott says his squad are looking forward to the game.

“When we was trying to get out of the Invicta League this was one of the fixtures that drove us on because it was the kind of club and ground I felt our players deserved to compete with,” said the Blair boss.

“We’ve had a great start and to lose one from eight is pleasing.

“I went to watch Erith & Belvedere play the other week and they looked strong and with some goalscorers of note they’ll be a threat to any team they come up against.

“But we will go there with confidence that we can get something from the game on the back of two clean sheets.”

Piggott, who has guided the club towards back-to-back Kent Invicta League titles before finally being given the green light to earn promotion at the end of last season, has revealed a couple of new signings ahead of the game.

He said: “We’ve had one or two injuries that have not helped but with the signings of Brett Ince from Tunbridge Wells and Rikki Cable from Erith Town we’ll have a bit more guile going forward.
