Tuesday 26th April 2016

ANTHONY DEER, the manager of Herne Bay’s Ladies side, says he expects to lose Emma Brown in the summer after she was called up to represent her country at this summer’s World Cup.

Brown has made it into the final 19 player squad to be selected to represent Great Britain in the Deaf Women’s World Cup in Italy this summer.

Already an England Deaf Women’s Futsal International, Brown steps up and on to the 11-a-side pitch at full international level.

She has also represented Kent FA this season and has been part of the Herne Bay Ladies team during its rise from county football to finishing fourth in the London & South East Regional Women’s Football League this season.

Brown can play both right-back and right midfield and has been known to score some scorching goals possessing a powerful strike.

She has also previously played for both Manchester United and Manchester City in her native North-West.

The World Cup tournament takes place in Italy from 19 June to 2 July and Great Britain have been  drawn in Group A along with Turkey and host nation Italy.

“It is always great news when one of your player gets named to represent your county,” said Deer.

“Emma has worked hard this season and deserves her place in the GB squad.

“We have done well to keep her and I’m sure that some higher teams may look to get her for next season.”
