Greenwich Borough confirm two-match tour of Cyprus

Thursday 03rd July 2014
GREENWICH BOROUGH have confirmed that they will play two games in Cyprus later in the month.

Ian Jenkins’ side will warm-up to their Southern Counties East Football League campaign with a couple of games in the Pareklishia Stadium.

“The key part of the pre-season preparations will be the week-long tour to Cyprus which will see the players undertake a full conditioning and training programme as well as playing in two matches in the Pareklishia Stadium,” said club spokesman Patrick Mahony.

“The first match will be on 22 July against ENI Lpsonas followed by a game on 24 July against AEL Limassol.

“This tour is being sponsored by DGS Marine, the club’s main sponsor.

“DGS Marine is a company owned and run by Lord David Skinner, the club’s president.

“This is a unique experience for a Step 5 club and the whole party are really excited by the upcoming tour.”

The one and only home pre-season friendly will see Greenwich Borough host a match against landlords Dartford on Sunday, 3 August.

Meanwhile, the club statement did not provide an update on their ambitious plans to sign Dutchman Edgar Davids, 41, who played for  - and managed - Barnet in the Conference Premier last season.

Ryman Premier League side Margate have completed their pre-season tour of Ireland, which saw Terry Brown’s side suffer a 3-0 defeat to Irish Premier League side UCD Athletic last Monday.
