Some results haven’t gone our way but I can’t ask no more in terms of their attitude and application, says Greenwich Borough boss Luke Medley

GREENWICH BOROUGH manager Luke Medley says his young side are feeling excited going into their home FA Trophy Preliminary Round tie against Egham Town tomorrow.

The Borough are sitting in the bottom three in the Bostik South East Division table, having collected two wins from their opening seven league outings, but all attention now turns to tomorrow’s Trophy tie.

Egham Town arrive in Eltham sitting in the bottom three in the Bostik South Central Division table, having picked up a win and a draw from their opening six games.

“The players are very excited for the game tomorrow and can’t wait to get out there,” said Medley, who is in his first season in charge of the club.

“After losing 2-0 last week away to Whitstable, albeit a very good performance but just failing to score, the players were gutted with the result. We will take the positives from that game into Saturday’s Trophy tie against Egham Town.

“Some results haven’t gone our way but I can’t ask no more in terms of their attitude and application.

“I have a very young team, who are showing they can become men and mature quickly.

“On two occasions this season we have gone down to 10 men and in both games the players adapted to the situation and showed great discipline and resilience and were still able to play in our style.

“The first game we drew 2-2 with Faversham in the Cup but was unfortunate on penalties and the second we ran out 2-1 winners away to Herne Bay.

“After those games we have a run of four wins and four clean sheets with credit to our on-loan keeper from Brighton & Hove Albion, Tom McGill.”

Reece Deakin (knee) will undergo a fitness test in the morning but Malakai Field has been ruled out with a shoulder injury.  Apart from those two players, Medley has a full squad to choose from.
