Teams raise their game against us but we have to rise to that challenge – Croydon will be no different, warns Greenwich Borough boss Gary Alexander

GREENWICH BOROUGH boss Gary Alexander says his side must not drop their standards against in-form Croydon tomorrow.

Former Millwall ace Alexander has won his opening two games in charge of the club since taking over from axed Ian Jenkins.

The title favourites have hit good form in recent weeks and welcome Dixon Gill’s Croydon on a six match unbeaten run in all competitions.

Greenwich Borough remain in second place in the Southern Counties East Football League table, having won 14 games, drawn four and lost three league games this season.

The club are five points adrift of league leaders Hollands & Blair, who are scheduled to travel to tenth-placed Cray Valley tomorrow.

Croydon arrive in Dartford in the bottom three with six wins, two draws and 10 defeats, but have lost once in their last seven games.

Greenwich Borough won their last game, a 2-1 win at Sevenoaks Town last weekend.

“Good to come away with three points from Sevenoaks, as said before it was going to be tough,” said Alexander.

“Teams raise their game against us but we have to rise to that challenge – Croydon will be no different.

“We’ve seen it in this league, anyone beats anyone if you drop your standards by five or 10 percent, you end up losing, so we have to make sure we are ready for what will be another tough game.”

Alexander has unveiled the signing of former Corinthian and Erith & Belvedere midfielder Ryan Johnson, who has dropped a division to sign from Ryman League Division One South side Hythe Town.

He said: “It’s great to have Ryan Johnson on board. He’s a player I’ve played against and has caught by eye over the last two seasons.

“He’s been playing higher.  We have had a chat and he’s hungry to get back to that level as soon as possible so we have to keep fighting for every point available and hope starting tomorrow.”

Meanwhile, Greenwich Borough have reduced admission prices in half for fans that hold season tickets of London based football clubs for this game.

Adults will therefore have to pay £4, seniors £2 and under 16s 50p if they produced their season ticket.
