Gravesend release six players

Tuesday 09th May 2006

Gravesend & Northfleet wishes to announce that following the expiry of their current contracts, Mark Rawle, Bobby Bowry, Justin Skinner, 33, Andy Drury, Jay Saunders and Steve McKimm, 30, have all been released by the Nationwide Conference club.

Club secretary, Roly Edwards told www.gnfc.co.uk:   "We would like to place on record our thanks to all of these players who as individuals have all made their own mark at the club.

“Extra special thanks though must go to Steve McKimm and Justin Skinner who have established themselves as true stalwarts of the club and whose talent and commitment will quite rightly go down in the annals of the football club.

“They have both been around since our Ryman League days and played a really big part in our rise to the Conference.

“It is a sad day when players of their standing walk away from the club, but we all understand that these things happen in football, we wish them well”

Bowry has been appointed player-coach at Ryman Premier League club Bromley.

Meanwhile, the works on the Northfleet end of the ground are provisionally expected to start in a fortnight’s time, with the initial enabling work being started.

Once this is completed, the stand will be erected, and this will start no later than the end of June.
