Glebe and Bromley Green secure groundshare deals to progress

Tuesday 16th April 2013
Two ambitious clubs have put in groundshare agreements so they can meet ground grading criteria for the Kent Invicta League next season.

Kent League club Holmesdale have announced that Glebe FC – who use Oakley Road for their Kent Youth League games – have confirmed a two-year groundshare deal (with a one-year option) to continue to play there next season.

Holmesdale chairman Mark Harris said: “Following our recent announcement that the current agreement with Greenwich Borough was expiring at the end of the season, we have received a number of approaches from clubs in the area and after much deliberation have signed a two-year agreement with Glebe FC.”

When asked what league Glebe will enter, Mr Harris replied: “I believe they are in discussions with the appropriate people, but that’s to be finalised.”

However, the future of Greenwich Borough remains unclear today.

Mr Harris confirmed that he “has not heard” anything from his soon to be ex-tenants – whose chairman has not returned our request for a statement.

Kent County League Premier Division outfit Bromley Green are still awaiting to see if their application to play Kent Invicta League football next season is approved.

The club – presently in fifth-place in the table with 35 points from 21 games, 15 points adrift of leaders Hildenborough Athletic - have agreed a groundshare deal to play their home games at Ashford United’s Homelands Stadium next season.

A joint-statement from both clubs said: “Following a series of productive meetings, a groundsharing agreement will come into force from the start of next season with Bromley Green FC playing up to thirty of their fixtures at Homelands.

“For Ashford United, it will see Homelands became a busier venue with greater patronage of its facilities; while for the Green it will enhance their chances of fulfilling a long-held ambition of progressing into a higher grade of football.

“Both parties are excited by what is a business agreement designed to create a positive environment that will bring enjoyment to all involved and allow the future to be faced with confidence.”
