The potential of Glebe getting through to the last sixteen of The FA Vase is a massive one, says boss Harry Hudson

GLEBE manager Harry Hudson says he is relishing the local derby against Beckenham Town in the last 64 of The FA Vase tomorrow.

The Foxes are in third-place in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table, having collected 42 points from their 18 games.

Glebe are two points behind unbeaten league leaders Sheppey United having played a couple more games.

Hudson’s men have beaten Coggeshall United (3-1), May & Baker (5-0), Holmer Green (3-1) all away from home before beating Hanworth Villa 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw at home in the last round.

Jason Huntley brings his side to Foxbury Avenue also sitting in third-place in their league.

Beckenham Town have collected 35 points from their 14 games in the Combined Counties League Premier Division South and are four points behind leaders Walton & Hersham but with two games in hand.

Beckenham Town have beaten K Sports (5-0), Hassocks (2-1), Clapton (2-0) and Milton United (3-2) and haven’t played a home tie at Eden Park Avenue on their way to the Third Round.

“Certainly looking forward to the tie tomorrow, it’s another very difficult one against Beckenham, who are doing very well in their league, as you’d expect,” said Hudson.

“Beckenham are a team that probably should have gone up in the Covid seasons, so we’re expecting a very difficult game.

“We don’t seem to be getting much luck in the Vase draws.  It’s a local derby, it’s a game we look forward to if they were in our league, so it’s a game we’re certainly looking forward to in the cup.

“The potential of us getting through to the last sixteen is a massive one and thankfully after missing seven of our starting 11 last week against Sheppey we’ve got a number of them back for tomorrow’s fixture and we may have a new signing available, we’ll just see if we can get over the line before the deadline.

“We should have a big crowd at Foxbury, hopefully, we're strong at home and because we’ve got a number of players’ back from injuries, we’re looking relatively good for tomorrow’s game.”
