Peacehaven have some real quality players and my players’ will have to step up on the day and match everything that they do and more if we are to win this tie, says Glebe boss Gary Alexander

GLEBE manager Gary Alexander says he has done his homework on Peacehaven & Telscombe.

The Foxes make the trip down to the East Sussex coast to play a FA Vase First Round tie.

Glebe sit in the top eight in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table with 16 points from eight games and they are 14 points adrift of leaders Beckenham Town but with three games in hand on Jason Huntley’s pacesetters.

Hosts Peacehaven & Telscombe, meanwhile, are in second-place in the Southern Combination Premier Division, with one league defeat in 10 outings, having collected 21 points and are five points adrift of leaders Eastbourne Town.

“This weekend we face a tough trip to Peacehaven, one of which I know will be extremely tough having watched them play over previous weeks,” said Alexander.

“I’ve seen how they play, they’re a very good side and are on a good run of form and league table’s don’t lie. They have some real quality players and my players’ will have to step up on the day and match everything that they do and more if we are to win this tie.

“I’m sure my team will be up for it as the prize is that big. We saw last year within our league that dreams can come true with Cray Valley getting to Wembley for the Final.

Alexander, the former manager of Greenwich Borough and Ashford United, has been in charge of Glebe for six games in all competitions.  The Foxes have won four of those games, drawing one and losing the other, a 4-2 home defeat to Erith Town in the London Senior Cup in their last outing.

“As for the league table, we are sitting in a healthy position, although having a lot of games in hand, others have points on the board so over the coming weeks, when we get back to league action, we have to make sure our standards are high to give ourselves the best chance of winning games and closing the gap to maybe put a bit of pressure on teams above,” added Alexander.

“We saw last year that no one has ever won a league in October so there’s a long way to go.”
