We've got a bit of momentum, which I think helps us, says Glebe boss Harry Hudson

Thursday 05th August 2021

GLEBE manager Harry Hudson expects a tough physical approach from their FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round opponents Abbey Rangers on Saturday.

The Foxes sit proudly at the top of the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table after beating Bearsted 5-0 on the opening day of the season before beating Erith Town 4-0 on Tuesday night.

Striker Jamie Philpot, 24, notched a hat-trick, taking his goalscoring account to five goals in two games.

Abbey Rangers – who will be playing in the Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League Premier North – start their campaign in Chislehurst.

“We played Abbey Rangers when I was at Whyteleafe a couple of seasons ago (winning 2-0 away in the Third Qualifying Round) and we played Chippenham afterwards,” recalled Hudson.

“They’re always a very well-organised side, they’ve been together a long time and they’re physical.  It will be a really tough game but we want to do as well as we can in all competitions this year and the FA Cup is one we’re taking extremely seriously.

“We’ve got a bit of momentum, which I think helps us.  Obviously, they’ve only played friendlies so we need to use that to our advantage, but we’re looking forward to Saturday and the boys are full of confidence so we shouldn’t be fearing anyone.”
