Fleet seek new development partner

Tuesday 07th November 2006

Gravesend & Northfleet Football Club are setting up meetings with prospective new development partners following the breakdown of talks on the new stadium project with property developer, Bannertown.

Negotiations have stalled over the last few months and the club felt it in their best interests to seek out a new partner.

Director, Brian Kilcullen, told www.gnfc.co.uk : “We have decided to move on and are already making arrangements to meet with other prospective developers.

“We have probably lost two or three months, but it is vitally important to get things right in this type of project.

“There are many positives to be taken from the talks we have held since we first met with Bannertown.

“We now have a much better understanding of how an ambitious and complicated project such as this could come together.

“It has emphasised how keen property investors are to invest in the area, how important the club is to the town and how we can add substantial value to a commercial property development because of our community links.

“We have continued to have great support from Gravesham Borough Council and this will stand us in good stead going forward.

“It is a temporary setback but we are aggressively working towards building our new stadium sooner rather than later.

“There are four or five potentially suitable sites in our area and one in particular that we favour. We are doing some of the feasibility work on the site in-house, but it will then get to the point where we need more specialist property advice and funding to go onto the next stage”.
