“Community Day is our annual celebration of all things Fisher, Bermondsey and Rotherhithe,” said a club statement.

“We’ll have specially invited guests and a matchday programme packed with local highlights, events and history.  With a move home finally on the cards, it is a chance for us to celebrate our imminent return to a fantastic and vibrant community.

“Sports clubs are important.  Whether the ball is round or oval they’re a place to watch; to play; to meet.  They bring identity to our communities; make our towns and cities special. They have the power to restore pride to our regions. They are part of our intentity. It’s why we all say ‘Ours.’ We feel it belongs to us.

“Between the 11th and 18th April 2015, we’ll be joining Supporters Direct in celebrating Supporter Ownership Week.

“Supporters Direct will be running a series of events and showing you how they make supporter ownership happen at a club, how supporter owned clubs work and they’ll bring you the stories of the people who make it possible.

“Supporters Direct are also asking people put your hand in your pocket and pledge to support their fantastic work.  If you would like to make a donation please visit www.crowdfunder.co.uk/supporter-ownership-week.

“You can help make it possible for others to take the same journey, to make it possible for someone like you to really say: “Ours”.

“And of course you can say that at the Fish. As a Supporter Owned club we are already run by you, the members. It is only with the support of our co-owners, and the help of Supporters Direct, that we exist and continue to make progress, so please do all you can to support us both! We will be raising money for Supporters Direct at Saturday’s game.

“To kick off Supporter Ownership week, we will be holding a members’ meeting in the bar here at Champion Hill after the game against Tunbridge Wells. With a crucial meeting with Southwark Council taking place next week, you will be the first to hear the latest news about our new home ground on Salter Road in SE16.

“Please do attend, as it is only with a strong and engaged membership that we will be able to demonstrate to Southwark council and our local community that our presence will be positive and that we have the strength to succeed.”
