I believe in our ability and with our great fan base, we will surprise a few people, says Fisher boss Allan Fenn

FISHER manager Allan Fenn says he cannot wait to make his Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division debut on Saturday.

The Fish enjoyed their best season since their reformation following their third-place finish under Dean Harrison last season, losing out on the title by just six points.

“It has been a tough pre-season to say the least,” admitted Essex based Fenn.

“I have had to rebuild the whole squad in less than five weeks before the season starts so that was a challenge in itself but with the help of my superb backroom team, who have taken the pressure off by stepping up to the plate and allowing me to concentrate on the squad and planning for games etc.

“The squad is in good shape.  We are lucky we have lads who are proud to join Fisher and be a part of our future plans.

“The backroom team and squad are looking forward to the challenge ahead and we hope we will do our supporters’ proud.”

Fenn revealed previously that he is working with a zero playing budget and has done his homework on the League as it is the first time he has managed in it.

“I’ll be honest, a month ago I knew nothing about the league, however, after a crash course in everything SCEFL, we have learnt an awful lot and we are excited to be part of such a well renowned league with some very good club’s involved,” added Fenn.

“As for other club’s in the league, I’ll be worrying about us for now.  I believe in our ability and with our great fan base, we will surprise a few people.

“Our scouts will be busy and every game will be planned in detail to give us every chance in every game.”

Derek Hares guided Deal Town to an eleventh-placed finish last season and Fenn is looking forward to his first trip down to The Charles Sports Ground on the opening day of the new season.

“We cannot wait to travel down to the lovely town of Deal on Saturday and play Deal Town in our first game of the season,” said Fenn.

“We believe we have prepared well for the game but know our opponents are a good organised side that possesses quality throughout, so we will have to start well and don’t get overawed by the occasion.”
