Faversham unveil Soutan signing
FAVERSHAM TOWN’S management duo of Jimmy Strouts and Justin Luchford announced former Herne Bay midfielder Dave Soutan as their newest signing ahead of the new season, writes Tony Gray.
With pre-season training kicking-off on Saturday, Soutan gets the chance to team up with former team mate Roy Guiver along with newly signed goalkeeer Kevin Readings and central defender Lee Shearer who joins the Lilywhites from Maidstone United.
Playing in central midfield Soutan is no stranger to the scoresheet having netted 21 times for Herne Bay in the past two seasons.
Speaking at Salters Lane following Soutan's signing, Luchford was keen to praise his newest addition to the squad.
“We are absolutely delighted to land the signature of Dave Souton,” Luchford told www.favershamtownfc.co.uk.
“I personally have been a great admirer of Dave for many seasons.
“His desire to play for us is yet another showing that Faversham Town FC are moving in the right direction.
“Dave is one of the best midfielders in the league without a doubt and we are very happy that he has chosen to join us."
Faversham Town have also boosted their backroom staff bringing in former Tunbridge Wells manager Kevin Metcalf in a coaching role.
Luchford said: "Kevin has a wealth of experience in the Kent League as well as a good network of contacts throughout Kent, which will help us as we bid to improve once more this season.
“We are hoping to sign one or two more and then with the rest of the squad returning we should be at full strength.
“Most of the signings to date have been to cover areas where we may have lost players and also to strengthen in others.
“A couple more fresh faces and we will be ready for the forthcoming campaign.
“We are excited and can't wait to get started this Saturday at 9am. It's going to be a tough League once again, but we are hopeful that we will be able to compete in the League and make good strides towards improving the side once more.
“Finally, we are looking forward to welcoming the Fans back to Salters Lane for the new season, and in Dover Athletic and Gillingham in the first two games, we hope they will come through the turnstiles in big numbers to support the Team, and we will do our best to put on a performance for them."
The Lilywhites pre-season campaign kicks off on Saturday 12th July with a home fixture against Andy Hesenthaler's Dover Athletic (kick-off 3:00) followed by the visit of Mark Stimson's Gillingham to Salters Lane on Thursday 17th July with a 19:45 start.
