FAVERSHAM TOWN chairman Gary Smart has parted company with manager Tommy Warrilow following yesterday's results – with the club in sixth-place in the Isthmian League South East Division table.

The Lilywhites claimed the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division title last season - which was Warrilow's first League title success of his career.

Since the turn of the year, Warrilow has guided the side to 18 points (four wins and six draws) from their last 15 games in the eighth-tier, which has resulted in leaving the club on Easter Saturday.

Faversham Town have suffered back-to-back defeats to Merstham (losing 5-0 at home) and a 1-0 defeat at Ashford United on Good Friday, which turned out to be Warrilow’s final game in charge.

Faversham Town have slipped one place outside the play-off zone with 66 points (18 wins, 12 draws and eight defeats) and are now six points adrift of Sittingbourne, who claimed a 3-0 win at already relegated bottom side East Grinstead Town yesterday.

The club have confirmed Frannie Collin, 38, will be talking on the caretaker management role until the end of the season.

Faversham Town host Sheppey United at Salters Lane tomorrow, before trips to East Grinstead Town (11 April) and Sevenoaks Town (18 April) before hosting champions-elect Three Bridges seven days later.

“The decision has been made following a difficult run of results since the start of 2006, with performances and outcomes falling below the standards expected by the club,” said Mr Smart in a statement.

“The board would like to place on record its thanks to Tommy for his efforts, commitment and professionalism during his time at the club and we all thank him for winning us promotion last season and wishes him every success in his future endeavours.

“Attention will now turn to rebuilding and planning ahead for next season, as the club looks to move forward and return to a level of performance that reflects its ambitions.

“Further updates regarding the management structure will be communicated in due course.”
