Faversham dismiss management team

Tuesday 06th March 2007

Faversham Town chiefs have announced the dismissal of first-team boss Terry Cordice and his assistant Peter Holder with immediate effect.

Cordice and Holder's 21-month Salters Lane tenure was brought to an end when they lost a vote of no confidence at a committee meeting on Monday night.

They were informed of the decision in a telephone call from chairman Bob Mason after a disappointing series of results that has seen the Lilywhites slump to 11th in the Kent League's Premier Division.

Mr Mason and his committee have asked first-team coach Paul Copley to take the manager's job in a caretaker capacity until the end of the season.

Former Welling United defender Copley has accepted the post and will take charge of team affairs for the trip to Deal Town tonight.

A Faversham Town spokesman told www.favershamtownfc.co.uk  : "The committee decided that they owed it to the club's fans to change the first-team management at this time.

"Terry Cordice and Peter Holder will be for ever remembered as the people who guided us back into the Kent League and we owe them a great debt of thanks.

"As a club, we've been disappointed not to have built on that promise this season. We wish them all the very best for the future.

"Meanwhile, we will move forward with Paul Copley as our caretaker manager."
