We would’ve liked to have more points by now but we still have enough games left to climb to safety and we believe that the squad we have do have enough ability to able to compete in every game, says Faversham Town joint-manager Phil Miles

FAVERSHAM TOWN joint-manager Phil Miles says he has enough ability within his squad to retain their Bostik South East Division status.

The Lilywhites are in the bottom three in the table with 20 points on the board from their 22 games and have Sittingbourne and Greenwich Borough below them in the table on 17 points, although the Brickies’ do have a game in hand.

Faversham Town held runaway leaders Cray Wanderers to a 1-1 draw last weekend, a result that pleased Miles, who runs the team alongside Danny Chapman.

“I was obviously really pleased with our point at home to Cray Wanderers, the players worked really hard and got their rewards with a point,” said Miles.

“It followed a great performance against Whitstable and it was also the first time we could name the same eleven twice in a row.”

Chapman and Miles take their side to sixth-placed Haywards Heath Town on Saturday, a side that have collected 36 points from 22 games and are a couple of points adrift of Whyteleafe in the final play-off berth.

“Haywards Heath will be a tough game, as is every game in this league, but we are confident that we can go there and put on another good display and hopefully another positive result,” said Miles.

“We are expecting to have everyone fit for Saturday, with no injury concerns and no suspensions.

“Position wise, yes we would’ve liked to have more points by now but we still have enough games left to climb to safety and we believe that the squad we have do have enough ability to able to compete in every game.

“We have also been actively trying to get in a centre-forward on loan or permanently.”

Miles added: “I would also like to say a big thank you to our supporters, who have been fantastic over the past few weeks.”
