It’s a bit of a waiting play for some players but we have to be patient to make sure we get it right, says Faversham Town joint-manager Phil Miles

FAVERSHAM TOWN joint-manager Phil Miles has continued with his summer recruitment campaign by signing three players for the Isthmian South East Division club.

Centre-half Josh Dorling, 19, has arrived from Maidstone United, where he came through the ranks of their Academy set-up and was invited to trial at Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion before going on to play for Sevenoaks Town.

Midfielder James Miles, who came through Ebbsfleet United’s Academy and returns after making three appearances last season and he also went out on loan to Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division side Rusthall.

Faversham Town have also snapped up former Gillingham centre-half Ryan Huckle, 19.

“Josh played under me at Ebbsfleet as a youth player and is a young talent, a skilful centre-half who can get the ball down and play,” Miles told www.favershamtownfc.co.uk.

“I’m delighted that James is back with us too. The squad is slowly coming together but we won’t sign people for the sake of it!

“They have to have the right attitude and fit with the way we want to train and play - and the budget we have.

“It’s a bit of a waiting play for some players but we have to be patient to make sure we get it right.”

When asked about Huckle returning to Salters Lane after impressing for the club whilst on loan from League One Gillingham last season, Miles said: “We’re absolutely delighted that Ryan has agreed to join us.

“We know that he was highly sought after but Ryan feels that Faversham Town is the place to kick-start his career again and we’re really pleased that he has decided to stay.

“He knows the club and what we’re trying to achieve. He’s a quality signing and it sends a message about the standard of player that we are bringing in for the coming season.

“We are still in the process of talking to players and there will be other squad announcements shortly.”

Faversham Town kick-off their pre-season campaign with a home game against Gillingham on Saturday 6 July 2019 (14:00).
