Faversham Town boss James Collins brings in Steve O'Boyle as his assistant manager

Friday 13th August 2021

FAVERSHAM TOWN manager James Collins has appointed former Phoenix Sports and Greenwich Borough boss Steve O’Boyle as his new assistant manager.

The Salters Lane outfit kick-off their Isthmian League South East Division campaign tomorrow at Phoenix Sports.

Scott Davenport and Carl Rook have been appointed assistant managers too and Grant Taylor is coach going into the 2021-22 season.

“I’m pleased to welcome Steve O’Boyle and Grant Taylor to my management team,” Collins told the club website.

“Not only is Boyley one of my close friends, he gave me my first job in non-league football.  I would not be in this position if it wasn’t for him and I will be forever grateful to him.

“Not only does he have experience at this level but he is a winner and his track record as a manager speaks for itself, so I believe it’s a real coup for us that he has agreed to join the club.”

Collins added: “Also with myself, Carl Rook and Scott Davenport absolutely over the moon to have those next to me again.

“Managers and players take the praise but without these two lads we wouldn’t be half the team.  I look forward to working closely with them again this year.

“Grant Taylor is someone that I know through work and I see as the perfect replacement for Scott Reilly. He has already fitted in seamlessly and has been a bit hit with the players and I have no doubt he will be an invaluable asset to us this season.”

Laurence Collins will also be working closely with the Lilywhites this season and will bring “something different to the table to further enhance the management team.”
