A Kent football club are trying to raise £7,000 online so it can improve their dressing room facilities so they can win promotion.

Farnborough Old Boys Guild – an 84-year-old club – won the NRG Gym Kent County League Division One West title by holding Peckham Town to a 1-1 draw at Farrow Fields on the final day of the season to win the league title on 7 May.

But in order to win promotion to the Premier Division, the club has to improve their facilities for players and they have come up with the idea of raising the money through well-wishers online.

The Farnborough High Street based club said in a statement: “The FA have confirmed that unless the club update their changing facilities over the next two months, the club, players and fans will not be rewarded for their hard work this season with promotion into the Kent County League Premier Division.

“We currently have communal showering facilities and the FA rules state that we need separate showers servicing each individual changing room, along with a separate WC’s for players and spectators.

“We had the FA up the club and they have confirmed that we need to partition off a metre run in the existing changing room to accommodate three new showers and a toilet.  We also need to put a WC in the referees changing room.

“The necessary refurbishment we will require a new boiler, six new shower heads, three new toilets, new flooring and materials for plastering, electrics and plumbing.

“We are a ‘not for profit’ organisation, so are looking to raised funds to help this wonderful club achieve what they so richly deserve.

“We have our own ground, located in the centre of Farnborough village, between Bromley and Orpington.

“Farnborough Old Boys Guild is a very friendly yet ambitious football club who run four senior Saturday teams which all play competitive league football, and four Sunday teams: two senior, playing league football and two Vets (over 35) teams which each play around 30 friendly fixtures per season.

“Your contribution will allow us the opportunity to complete these fundamental clubhouse improvements, so not only the 1st XI can secure promotion, but every one of the 120 playing members will have the chance to enjoy the new facilities come the new season.”

So far, the club have raised £1,875 of their £7,000 target – to make your donation please visit http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/FOBGFC.
