FA CUP THIRD QUALIFYING ROUND DRAW

Monday 02nd October 2006

Today’s FA Cup (Sponsored by E.ON)  third qualifying round draw has been unkind for our Kent sides left in the competition, with only one club being handed a home draw, writes Stephen McCartney.

Margate, who ended Kent League Whitstable Town’s FA Cup campaign on Saturday, welcome Maldon Town or Potters Bar Town to Hartsdown Park on 14 October.

But all our other Kent sides are on the road.

Cray Wanderers will travel to Mangotsfield United if they win their replay at Leatherhead on Tuesday night.

Dover Athletic are also on the road and travel to either Heybridge Swifts or Didcot Town.

Bromley, leading the Ryman Premier League table, travel to league rivals Billericay Town or Nationwide Conference South side Hayes.

Whoever wins the replay at Park View Road between Welling United and Folkestone Invicta on Tuesday night will travel to Essex to play AFC Hornchurch.

Tonbridge Angels know if they win their replay at Banbury United on Tuesday night, they will travel to Worthing or Cheshunt in the next round.

Worthing were thumped by the Angels by six goals to one in Angels’ first home league game of the season.

Our sole Nationwide Conference side Gravesend & Northfleet come in at the fourth and final qualifying round.

Last season, Ramsgate (who were knocked out by Yeading on Saturday), Folkestone Invicta, Welling United and Gillingham were knocked out at the first round proper stage.
