Changing the name is a big step forward for our club

ERITH 147 SPORTS will be looking to change their name to Tudor Sports next season and the Sidcup based club have announced a newly-appointed management team.

The Oxford Road outfit have turned to former Sporting Club Thamesmead joint-managers Danny Joy and Ross Baker.

The pair have appointed Jamie Fernandes (player-coach), Paul Daley (goalkeeper coach) and Ben Kirk (coach).  The club are also searching for someone to fulfil the role of matchday physio.

“We are changing the name of Erith 147 to Tudor Sports.  Hopefully this change will be confirmed very soon and we can continue preparations,” said a club statement.

“We are very excited about the changes behind the scenes.  Changing the name is a big step forward for our club.  We were hoping to do it last year but missed the deadline.”

Erith 147 Sports finished in the bottom five in the Andreas Carter Joma Kent County League Premier Division table last season with a playing record of seven wins, six draws and 17 league defeats.

Gravesend-based side Guru Nanak lost every single League game last season, while Hildenborough Athletic finished on 20 points.

“We are looking for improvement on the pitch from last season and despite their relatively young ages we know we have appointed two manager’s with experience at this level and a big point to prove.

“They also bring an experienced back-room staff with them.

“We are hoping with the additions of a few new faces to add to the squad, we can push on and have a more enjoyable season this time out.”

The club’s name change is subject to approval from the Kent County League, hoping to play in the Premier Division when the new season kicks off again in August 2017.
