Erith & Belvedere apologise for Crockenhill cancellation

Wednesday 16th July 2014
ERITH & BELVEDERE have explained why their pre-season friendly at Crockenhill this evening was cancelled.

The game was due to kick-off at 19:00 this evening, due to their being no floodlights at Wested Meadow.

Kent Invicta League club Crockenhill issued a tweet at 6:40pm this evening, saying, “Game called off tonight. Opposition pulled out. Apologise to those making their way to the game.”

It appeared at first glance that Erith & Belvedere had failed to turn up without informing the home club of their non-appearance.

But Erith & Belvedere secretary Adam Peters cleared up the situation.

“This game was cancelled this morning because Crockenhill Football Club didn’t appoint any assistant referee’s for this friendly,” he said.

“Matt Longhurst informed Crockenhill this morning that we would not be attending the game.

“Yes, we have had a few players injured at training but that does not constitute that we didn’t have a squad for this friendly.

“Erith & Belvedere would like to apologise to its supporters that have travelled to this friendly.”
