Epsom & Ewell appoint Darren Anslow at their new manager

Thursday 23rd September 2021

EPSOM & EWELL have appointed Darren Anslow as their new manager.

The Step Six side play in the Southern Combination League First Division and are in sixth-place in the table, having picked up five wins and two draws from their opening six league games.

The Salts pulled off a remarkable comeback to knock Southern Counties East Football League First Division side Larkfield & New Hythe out of The FA Vase in the First Qualifying Round on 11 September.

Kris Browning’s side were 2-0 up through Caine Smith and Hicham Akhazzan but Epsom & Ewell scored from three headed goals, which were timed at 44:07, 45:43 and 47:46 at the end of the second half to send the Surrey side through.

Epsom & Ewell announced that the former Lordswood manager would take the helm last night, replacing Sam Morgan who departed on 26 August.

“Epsom & Ewell FC are excited to announce Darren Anslow as our new manager,” said a club statement.

“We welcome him to the club and wish him every success.  We would like to thank all the candidates who enquired about the vacant manager's position and wish them well.”

Epsom & Ewell groundshare Leatherhead’s Fetcham Grove ground as they haven’t played in their home-town since selling their West Street ground back in 1993 and have played their home games at Banstead Athletic, Merstham and Chipstead since then.

Anslow's first game in charge of the club will be at home against Mile Oak in the FA Vase Second Qualifying Round on Saturday (15:00).
