Dryden signs new contract to stay at Crabble

Tuesday 05th June 2007

Dover Athletic boss Andy Hessenthaler is delighted to confirm that James Dryden has signed a new one-year contract, writes Justin Allen.

Former Folkestone Invicta striker Dryden, the club's highest scorer with 17 goals last season, is the first out of contract player to commit to the club.

Hessenthaler told www.doverathletic.com: "He was the club's top-scorer last season and I've down my homework on him. The kid scores goals but I want more goals from him next season.

"And we're going to do that by getting him better service from midfield and by playing attacking football down the flanks.

"I'm putting a lot of pressure on Jimmy but I want to make him a better football player and the boy's excited at the prospect.

"I've got some players earmarked to strengthen the squad and I'm talking to a quality full back this weekend. I'm also going to get Jimmy a decent strike partner.

"We have the nucleus of a good squad and we're going to build on that to give us the tools to win promotion this coming season."
