Dover ready for one final push

Monday 13th March 2006

Dover Athletic chairman Jim Parmenter has revealed boss Clive Walker may be ready to delve into the transfer market to sign one more player as Whites make their final promotion push, writes Justin Allen - www.doverathletic.com

Two wins out of three have put Dover Athletic back in the play-off picture - and a victory against Kingstonian tomorrow night (Tuesday) could see them back in the top six.

Striker James Dryden has seen his knee swell up again after coming on during the defeat against Hastings on Tuesday night.

And the club are working hard on trying to get to the bottom of the problem so the former Folkestone Invicta record breaking striker can finally get a run of games - and fire the goals we need.

But Mr Parmenter said: "We're probably going to sign another player. We've got our eye on a couple of targets and will make our move soon. We're not going to reveal which position yet but rest assured it'll make the team stronger.

"We are going for one final push at promotion. We can do this and the fans I am sure appreciate that we've still got everything to play for.

"The team has been set up to win games. It means we might lose the odd one, but it's wins we need - and two wins out of three is exactly the kind of form we need to hit. An average of two points a game will see us for sure grab a promotion play-off spot, possibly finish third to secure home advantage."
