Dover make last summer signing - adding Spice to their squad

Bradley Spice has signed for Dover Athletic to complete Clive Walker's summer signings, writes Justin Allen - www.doverathletic.com

The striker completed his move from Sittingbourne this weekend after top scoring for the Brickies again last season with 17 goals.

Whites beat competition from Bromley, Ramsgate and Boreham Wood for his signature.

Spice, 23, is a very quick frontman and has a great eye for goal. He is a very promising striker who came through Sittingbourne's own ranks. He had the unique distinction of finishing as leading goalscorer in the first team, reserves and the under-18 side at the end of the 2000/01 season.

Spice is a player who Sittingbourne believe could go far if he keeps developing at the present rate.

Whites Chairman Jim Parmenter said: "Bradley is a player we've had our eye on. Yet again, he's another Kent player and has a proven goalscoring record.

"He has that pace that Clive has been looking for and we're delighted to steal him from under the noses of clubs like Ramsgate, Bromley and Boreham Wood, who all were determined to sign him.

"I'd say that we've signed everyone now that we want. Basically, we've run out of money now. The budget has been spent and we're delighted with what we've got in.

"We've injected pace and experience into the side and there's absolutely no doubt that we're stronger in all departments than we were last season."

Whites have signed keeper Glen Knight, midfielder John Keister, defender Matt Bourne, winger Byron Walker and striker Spice.

A statement issued on www.sittingbournefc.co.uk added: “Sittingbourne' "Player Of The Year" and longest serving player, Bradley Spice has signed for Ryman League Division One rivals Dover Athletic.

“Bradley, leading goalscorer last season, also had an offer from a higher league team but in the end travelling was the deciding factor. Sittingbourne wish Bradley success at Dover but obviously not when we are playing them!”

Spice netted 62 goals for the Brickies from 209 appearances.
