DOVER ATHLETIC manager Andy Hessenthaler has completed the signing of former Grimsby Town striker Ahkeem Rose.

The 21-year-old Jamaican made 43 appearances in all competitions for the League Two side before being released in May.

He made his first-team debut against Rochdale in the EFL Cup in August 2018 and scored three goals during his time with the Mariners.

Rose will wear the number nine shirt for the Vanarama National League side this season.

While he was with Grimsby, one of Rose’s team-mates was Jake Hessenthaler, who has since secured a summer move to Crawley Town.

Meanwhile, Michael Woods has had his contract cancelled by mutual consent and has left Crabble.

The midfielder made 35 appearances in all competitions for the Whites, scoring three goals, after joining in July 2019 following the expiry of his contract at their then league rivals Harrogate Town.

“We would like to thank Michael for all his efforts and we wish him the very best of luck in his future endeavours,” said a club statement.

Dover Athletic kick-off their league campaign when Notts County visit Crabble on Saturday 3 October before travelling to Bromley three days later.
