Deres fans' sponsorship deal is just the ticket

Thursday 15th February 2007

The Erith and Belvedere supporters group, Deres Independent Supporters Association (DISA), has announced that it has secured a sponsorship deal with
www.UK-Footballtickets.com, which will run until the end of next season, writes Stephen McCartney.

The man behind UK-Footballtickets.com may be remembered as one of a trio who ran the original Deres club shop at the club’s former ground at Park View in Belvedere.

In a two way partnership, both Simon and DISA fully intend to give good value to each other.

DISA will receive an up-front sponsorship fee and a link from Simon’s website to theirs.

Simon has a lot of experience in trading football programmes and souvenirs online and DISA will certainly be looking forward to tapping into that knowledge for the benefit of promoting the Erith & Belvedere online shop.

The DISA website - www.disa.org.uk
will provide advertising space and a clear link to Simon’s website.

DISA will also ensure their sponsor’s name accompanies theirs in each match day programme as well as any handouts or flyers that DISA distributes.

DISA chairman Ben Dryland explained the deal in an interview with www.kentishfootball.co.uk.

He said: “This deal underlines the growing respect DISA is earning from everyone with a connection to Erith and Belvedere Football Club.

“For Simon to show his support to our organisation in this way is a tremendous boost – not that we don’t fully intend on giving him a profitable return on his investment with us.

“A trusting relationship between DISA and the board of directors at the club has already been established and that’s something we’ve worked hard to earn over these first months of our existence.

“As well as having achieved this, it’s great to have had so many Deres supporters from far and wide getting in touch with us to offer their support and best wishes for what we’re trying to do here.

“All things considered, I believe DISA is on course for a very successful first season in operation.”

The second piece of news is that DISA will be introducing a Dere of the Month award, which will give the opportunity to supporters, club officials, management team and players to show their appreciation to the player they feel has been the most deserving of special recognition for their recent performances.

The first month for consideration will be February 2007 – and votes for the February Player of the Month will be collected at the Deres home match against Herne Bay on March 3rd 2007.

The player winning the inaugural award will not only receive a trophy but also a bottle of champagne.

Ben explained: “We’re confident that the Deres supporters, club officials, management team and players will give their full backing to this new award – and once a month show their appreciation to who they feel has performed most outstandingly in the Deres shirt.

“The fact that voting will be open to everyone at the club will make the award one that our players should be rightly proud to receive.

“As well as giving our players some deserved recognition during the course of the season, the nature of the way the votes will be taken should also bring everyone at the club just that little bit closer.

“For a club like Erith and Belvedere, that togetherness is a vital ingredient for the future wellbeing of the club and in turn, the success of the team, so we hope this award will help in some small way to add to what is an increasingly good atmosphere within the club.”

Erith & Belvedere welcome Slade Green to Park View Road, Welling on Saturday (2pm) for a Kent League fixture.
