Tommy Sampson opens Deal Town's new £180,000 clubhouse

Monday 26th October 2015

FORMER Deal Town manager Tommy Sampson, who led the club to their FA Vase triumph at Wembley in 2000, officially opened the new £180,000 clubhouse on Saturday evening.

Sampson cut a ceremonial ribbon and pulled the first pint in the bar and told the packed clubhouse that Deal Town “would always have a special place in my heart after that wonderful day at Wembley” and he also promised to return to the Charles Sports Ground this coming Saturday for the club’s FA Vase First Round tie against Oxford City Nomads.

Club chairman Rob Marriott said afterwards: “It was great to see Tommy at the club again and also to hear that he will be returning again for the Vase tie.

“A great deal of hard work has gone into the new clubhouse and Arron Skirrow (the club vice-chairman and project manager) has done an exceptional job and I can’t thank him enough along with all the other people who played their part.”

Among the other invited guests on Saturday were Deal Town Mayor Cllr Adrian Friend and Southern Counties East League secretary Tony Day.
