I am expecting a very difficult game at Sutton Athletic in The FA Cup, says Deal Town boss Derek Hares

DEAL TOWN manager Derek Hares says he expects a very difficult game against FA Cup debutants Sutton Athletic on Saturday.

Dan Kelly’s side opened their Southern Counties East Football League First Division campaign by thrashing Greenways 7-0 at Cobdown last Saturday and are top of the tree after one outing.

Deal Town, meanwhile, were held to a goal-less draw at home to Fisher before they beaten 4-1 at Chatham Town – the only side with six points from two games in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table.

“The FA Cup is always an exciting day and every club would love a run in the competition and of course we are no different,” said Hares, ahead of their trip to Hextable.

“We go to Sutton Athletic on Saturday and I am expecting a very difficult game.

“They had an excellent start to their season with a 7-0 win so we know that we will have to play very well if we want to win the game but we are confident that we can do that.”

Deal Town go into their FA Cup tie sitting in the bottom five after their defeat to James Collins’ title-favourites.

“Although we lost 4-1 against a very good Chatham side in midweek, I thought we played well for long periods of the game but individual mistakes cost us in the end,” said Hares.

“Like most clubs we have had a couple of players unavailable because of holidays but this gives everyone in the squad the opportunity to play and I know that everyone is looking forward to the game and the challenge at Sutton Athletic on Saturday.
