DEAL TOWN are hosting champions Folkestone Invicta today in a testimonial game for Danny Smith, the club’s longest-serving player.

Smith has made well over 400 appearances for the Hoops since making his first-team debut in 2003.

“In this day and age it’s quite unusual for a player to make over 400 appearances for the same club and Danny has been a  great servant to Deal Town,” said manager Derek Hares.

The manager told www.dealtownfc.co.uk: “We are delighted that Folkestone Invicta manager Neil Cugley, whose side have just won the Ryman League Division One South title in such kind style, has kindly agreed to bring his Invicta team to the Charles Sports Ground to help us mark Danny’s special day.”

Deal Town completed their Southern Counties East Football League campaign on Saturday with a 3-0 defeat at Tunbridge Wells, finishing in ninth-place in the table.
