Dartford sign striker Lewis Smith from AFC Hornchurch

Saturday 22nd June 2013
DARTFORD manager Tony Burman has today unveiled a new striker.

The Darts finished as the highest ranked part-time club upon their return to the top-flight of non-league football after finishing in eighth-place last season with 66 points from 46 games, one point and one place behind giants Luton Town.

Burman has opted to snap up a player who suffered relegation from Conference South last season, after signing striker Lewis Smith, 23, from AFC Hornchurch.

“Lewis is potentially a very good prospect who wants to play a higher level of football and I am delighted to have signed him to Dartford,” Burman said in a brief statement, which was issued on the club’s official website www.dartfordfconline.com.

Smith isn’t the only player to leave the relegated Urchins to sign for a Kent club.  Former Cray Wanderers left-back Alex Bentley returns to Hayes Lane, this time to sign for Conference South Bromley.

Dartford begin their pre-season campaign with a home game against League Two side AFC Wimbledon on Saturday 6 July (3pm).
